Get to know Margot

Margot Klein is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, AHPRA.  She is a provider for Medicare.

Since completing her tertiary education with Griffith University, Gold Coast campus, in 2001, she has been working as a Registered Psychologist across a variety of settings.  

Margot has worked in both public and private health settings and has experience working with adults with a wide range of psychological presentations including:

  • Anxiety (incl. generalised, PTSD, performance, social, rumination, OCD)

  • Mood Disorders (incl. Depression, Bipolar)

  • Low self-esteem and low confidence

  • Interpersonal relationship issues

  • Self-sabotaging behaviours

  • Problems with emotional regulation

  • Conversion disorders

  • Unexplained medical conditions 

  • Personality Disorders and difficult character traits.

Margot completed a three-year Core Training program in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) with Dr Stephen Arthey at the Melbourne Centre for ISTDP, in 2015. She is currently in her 3rd year of Advanced Training in ISTDP with Dr Stephen Arthey and receives ongoing and regular professional development and supervision in her ISTDP work.

Other therapeutic approaches that Margot has trained and worked in include DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and MI (Motivational Interviewing).

Margot's preferred approaches to her psychology work is ISTDP and DBT.  She currently works part time in private practice, as well as, facilitating psychodynamic groups that utilise ISTDP and DBT principals, in a hospital setting.

Get to know Claudia

Get to know Michael

Michael Scarlett is a registered clinical psychologist and a board approved supervisor. He received his Masters in Clinical Psychology from Griffith University in 2008. Michael specialises in the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Trauma in Adults. He treats adults and older adolescents and is skilled in the treatment of a wide range of psychological problems including:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Depression

  • Chronic Pain

  • Low self-esteem and self-worth

  • Family and relationship problems

  • Difficulty with emotion regulation

 

Michael has clinical training and experience in providing psychotherapy to people who present with:

  • Anxiety and Anxiety Disorders such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Acute Stress Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia and Panic Attacks

  • Mood Disorders including Depression and Bipolar Disorder

  • Psychotic Disorders

  • Personality difficulties and disorders such as Borderline, Narcissistic, Schizoid, Dependent, Avoidant and Obsessive-Compulsive

 

Michael Scarlett has previously worked as Senior Clinical Psychologist at Mayo Private Hospital in Taree NSW. In this role he has assisted in the development of day treatment programs for posttraumatic Stress Disorder as well as specialised Dynamic Psychotherapy group treatment programs aimed at patients suffering from a broad range of psychological problems.

 

He has previously worked in Return to Work settings and has previous experience in treatment of forensic clients.

In addition to his university training, Michael has completed a three year core training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) under the guidance of Dr Steven Arthey on the Gold Coast. Michael now participates regularly in ongoing advanced ISTDP training.

Get to know Emma

Emma Lindsay is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, AHPRA.  She is a provider for Medicare. She is currently completing her Clinical Psychology Registrar program.

Emma has experience in both public and private health settings and has worked with adults with a range of psychological presentations including:

·       Anxiety (Generalised, Social)

·       Mood Disorders (Depression, Bipolar)

·       Post traumatic stress disorder

·       Interpersonal relationship issues

·       Problems with emotional regulation

·       Borderline Personality Disorder

·       Eating Disorders

·       Difficulties with alcohol use

·       Psychotic Disorders including Schizophrenia

Emma has experience delivering both individual and group interventions. Therapeutic approaches that Emma has trained and worked in include CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), and MI (Motivational Interviewing).

Claudia Bakewell is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, AHPRA. She is a current member of the Australian Psychological Society, a registered provider for Medicare and also accepts referrals through NDIS.

 

Since completing her tertiary education with the University of New England, Armidale in 2018 she has been working as a Psychologist in public settings such as  Child and Family Counselling Service and Adult Community Mental Health Team. For the past two years Claudia has worked at a private Hospital providing individual and group psychotherapy to patients with a wide range of psychological problems, and she continues to facilitate a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy group there. Claudia also has an interest in perinatal Psychology and is undergoing additional training with the Gidget Foundation to provide support to women during this special time in their lives.

 

Claudia has experience working with adults with a wide range of psychological presentations including:

  • Anxiety and Anxiety Disorders such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia and Panic Attacks

  • Depression and other Mood Disorders

  • Loss & Grief

Claudia primarily utilizes a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach, drawing from other treatment modalities such as Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma Focused Therapy and Attachment-focused interventions where appropriate.

Get to know Rick

Rick is a registered psychologist and a therapist with over 30 years experience. He completed his BA at Macquarie University and his Masters at Sydney University.

Rick is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society. He is a registered Medicare Provider and he was also an accredited supervisor for intern psychologists for many years.

Rick has had extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. His work has seen him delivering psychological services to individuals and organisations over the years. These services have included counselling, consulting, coaching, supervision and brief, medium and long-term psychotherapy. Rick has considerable experience and interest in couples therapy.

 

Rick has experience in treating adults presenting with a range of issues that include:

  • Helping couples experiencing relationship difficulties

  • Psychological Trauma 

  • Anxiety and Depression

  • Loss & Grief

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms

  • Addiction

  • Low Confidence & Low self esteem

  • Assertiveness & Communication Difficulties

  • Personality Disorders

 

Rick’s therapeutic approach is essentially eclectic where the different modes of therapy are adapted to the different needs of the presenting clients. Though a Cognitive Behavioural approach to psychotherapy is at times the chosen mode it’s more often a mix of therapeutic modalities that he has developed over his years as a practicing psychologist. He also has a strong interest in working with couples who may be going through relationship difficulties.
